Jessica Bradley Gallery opened in 2005 as Jessica Bradley Art + Projects, operating in a small storefront space in Toronto’s west end Portuguese community. In 2012 the gallery moved further west to a larger space in a semi-industrial neighbourhood, pioneering a new district to which several galleries relocated over the next few years.
Working from an international perspective, the gallery built a reputation for showing a new generation of critically acclaimed artists and mounting key group exhibitions as it established a highly respected roster of Canadian artists. More than eighty exhibitions were mounted at the gallery between 2005 and 2015. Honours awarded to gallery artists during this period include the Sobey Art Award, the AIMIA/ AGO Photography Prize and Canada’s representation at the Venice Biennial. The gallery participated in international art fairs such as NADA Miami Beach, Art Basel Miami Beach and Frieze London and New York.
Jessica Bradley was previously Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto and Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa.
